American Water Skiers Claim Seven Pan Am Medals

Dave Briscoe of Winter Haven helped the U.S. Water Ski Team bring home seven medals from the XVI Pan American Games held recently in Mexico.
Briscoe was one of two coaches on the team.
Regina Jaquess of Santa Rosa Beach won four of Team USA’s six gold medals.
Jaquess also set four Pan American Games’ records and one pending world record. She’s won ten medals in three Pan American Games’ appearances, the most of any U.S. water ski athlete. She won gold medals in women’s overall (2,955.71 points), slalom (three buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and jumping (166 feet/50.6 meters).
She took home a bronze medal in women’s tricks (6,090 points).
Freddy Krueger won the gold medal in men’s jumping with a distance of 212 feet.
He set a Pan American Games record jump of 221 feet, breaking his old record by one foot.
Jon Travers won gold in men’s slalom, setting a new Pan American Games’ record of two buoys at 41 feet off.
Andrew Adkison won the gold medal in men’s wakeboarding, scoring 80.00 points.
