Hello all,
On the last update we were in Lauderdale Lakes Marina in the middle of a 2 week stay. What an amazing stay with 11 days booked solid. We had record students at any one location since this tours iception 8 years ago. The beauty of the whole stop was the waiting list daily trying to get on board. Lauderdale was covering for Appolo Marine who had decided to give up their dates this year. I believe we could have stayed there for 2 more weeks and been just as busy.
The clinics were shared by Mojo Marine in Nashota, WI. Which is a satelite store for Lauderdale. The shop is in a great location directly off the highway. Very visable and surounded ne an abundance of Water. The have a great traffic flow and I think they would do well with all of my sponsors that are reading this.
We left Lauderdale on the 25th on route to a new location in Broad Ripple, a trendy area in Indianapolis. We were scheduled to ride there on the 26th and 27th of July. This also is a brand new shop concentrating mainly on Boards. From Wake to Skate and all that comes with it. Brad, The owner is hungry to carry CWB. The shop is on the main thoroughfair of the Broad Ripple district. It is an area rich with Shopping, Fitness Trails, Restaraunts and quaint shops. It also borders the Broad Ripple River directly behind the property. This made it great for demo’ing product. We had a great 2 days and ran through many students. All that came fell in love with the wake on the 24 SSV.
We left Indy on the 29th on route to our old friends at Patona Bay. As usual Kristine Paton had 2 days booked solid. This year I added Bell Marine to all the advertising of our stop there. Although Kevin Bell has nothing to do with the
stop, Nor does he do anything to help advertise this stop, We still do everything we can to help move boats through his dealership. Somehow I believe there is some bad blood between Patona Bay and Bell Marine. Patona Bay in the past was a Moomba Dealer while Bell Marine was the Supra dealer. Now Bell has both Moomba and Supra, and somehow there friendship disolved.
But it’s not my fight. Patona Bay consistantley books full days of Students and at the end of the day, My job is to get people in Boats. I think it’s crazy that Bell Marine doesn’t embrace the fact that I’m handing them potential customers and try to be involved in some way. Patona Bay doesn’t carry any tow boats and has no competition against Bell Marine, So, can’t we all get along!
After a great 3 days of clinics and amazing hospitality I headed on to my friends in Amish country on Sunday August 2nd. Mike Kline has been a long time student of mine who has become an ambasador of the sport of Wakeboarding in Ohio. He live’s in Holmes County, which is the leading county in America for
Amish population and the Amish way of life. This area has become a hotbed of tourism with Bed and Breakfast everywhere you look. The County has done an amazing job of Commercializing the area without making it Commercial. Just driving around the area you feel as if you’ve gone back 100 years. The teams of horses in the fields harvesting the fields, The beatifully landscaped holmes surrounded by acres of land. And more Horse and buggy’s than you can handle. Including the piles of horse crap all over the road. If that’s not authentic what is?!
Mike had organized this clinic thoroughly. He pulled in 8 sponsors for the tour to cover some of the costs to pull off this amazing clinic. He offered discounted lessons for anyone 18 and under and covered my end with the sponsor dollars.
He also offered a prize for Most Improved rider and Best trick. We rode and stayed on Pleasant Hill Resort and lake, Which I understand is the home lake of Gerry Nunn.
We also had a Movie Premier while we were there on the Movie I got my acting debut in. H2O Extreme. If you haven’t seen this movie yet it’s a must see if you’ve ever Waterskiied at any level. Bill Sharf, long time friend of mine, Did an amazing job Directing and Producing this Movie. I ended up with about 15 scenes in the film and even got the Bus and Supra in the movie with all of my sponsers prominent. It was a fun project to do.
I was worried that the film wouldn’t catch the realism of the world that I’ve been involved in since ’87. Not only did Bill capture it, He nailed it. The fact that it’s at the place I got my start especially after leaving Junior Hockey to follow my dreams, really hit home for me. To be an actor in it is such a huge honor.
My charcter is Rambo, who is a veteran Show Skier who lives it up whenever he gets a chance. Tough strecth for me as you can imagine!
Mike ended up with 2 full days of students and even filled the overflow day with a half day. This was deffinately the most organized stop of the year. Mike even got the local Moomba dealer involved to promote some Boat Sales. I moved a ton of No fear Product as well as DVD’s of H2O Extreme.

We packed up on the 6th on route to some more Amish friends in Lancaster, PA. We actually rode on Raystown Lake about 2 hours west of Lancaster at Heritage Cove Resort. Again we had 2 days that were booked although 3 days filled up. We again premiered the Movie and had lots of sales in No Fear product as well as Movies. On both stops we also put about half the people who rode on CWB product to try out. I also had 3 boats that that wanted to test out the OJ 14.25 X 14 props. An 03 22 SSV, a 06 24 SSV, and an 07 XLV. They all fell in love with the performance of the props, especially once the boat was weighted. Since both stops were at camp grounds a lot of people brought their own boats to play with when they weren’t riding in my boat. It was great to all be able to hang out and live with my students for a few days. My riding is getting stronger everyday as well. The knees feel better than ever. I have a slight tear in my shoulder but I’ve been rehabing it and it’s feeling pretty good as well.
Also before I forget, I have DVD’s of H2O Extreme for sale for $20. This is the first and only Movie dedicated to Waterskiing so please help support it by owning your own copy. I’ll be happy to sign it and mail it to you.
Well I’ve got to braek down camp and head onto The Boat Shop on Lake Wallenpaupack up on Tafton, PA. Only about a 3 hour drive today. That is a pleasant change.
Until next time,
Briscoe
