Hello all,
I hope everyone is getting the summer weather I’ve been getting. It’s funny how we’ve figured out how to be in the right place at the right time for our greatest chances on good weather. Maybe my next venture will be a psychic on the Weather Channel.
On the last update I was on route to Edmond, OK, just outside of Oklahoma City. We had 2 days booked solid on Lake Arcadia. We had some wind to deal with on the first day but we found some protection from it and all of our students had the opportunity to ride. On the first night after there was suppose to be a large storm coming through with damaging hail. Shorty Rodgers, Owner of Boat & RV World offered to put the bus and boat in the
showroom in case we had a devastating night. We did so and had a nice guitar session. We also had a large pasta feast while we were camping indoors.
The clinic went well once again with a large movement of No Fear product. We also demo’d quite a few of our CWB Boards at this clinic and Shorty is hoping to soon become a CWB Dealer. We left Oklahoma on the 7th of June on route to Pueblo, CO. Home of Rocky Mountain Boat Company aka. RoMoBoCo.
We arrived on the 9th to get set up and start clinics on the 10th. Bill Campbell once again brought forth one of the most organized clinics of our tour. He had everyone on the dock with release forms already signed and ready to go by 8:00 a.m. every morning. We ran 4 days of clinics and everything went stellar.
Lake Pueblo has a beautiful backdrop of the Rockies. Pikes Peak is towering over the lake with its snow-capped peak and the temp of the water lets you know the Rockies are close by.
On the 16th we had a morning of clinics booked just 3 hours north at Sidewayz Marine. This was all I could handle since I had to fly to
Knoxville for a photo shoot of this year’s promotional drive. The nice part was that LJ from Pueblo lent us a truck so that we could leave the rig in Pueblo. This enabled Jared to pick up lessons while I was gone on the photo shoot. We drove up to Fort Collins the night before and got a Hotel. We started at 8:00 a.m. with a full boat of kids. The ages ranged from ten to sixteen. We loaded the boat after a full morning and headed to the Airport. Jared dropped me off and continued 2 hours South back to Pueblo. Unfortunately my flight was delayed and I didn’t get to Knoxville until about 2 a.m. for a 5:30 a.m. wake up call. I
was actually nervous, to tell the truth, to ride with our team. Which consists of Josh Sanders, Trevor & Reed Hanson, Kyle Schmidt, Amber Wing, Eddie & Jacob Valdez, Ryan Anderson, Ben Greenwood, Austin Hair and Myself. To make a long story short I rode better than I have rode all Summer. It was the first time in months that I was inspired to push it harder. The best part was all the groms trying the Slurpee (Which those of you that don’t know, this is one of Zane and I signature tricks), a toeside backroll with a backside 3. Eddie Valdez was the only one that actually stepped up enough to try it and got worked as he did. So I guess Zane and I are safe for a while on that one. I even tried the Brisky Dick which I made for the first time last year. It is a Tantrum with a frontside 3. Even though Robert Soven is trying to name it the Million Dollar Baby I made it a year ago. I let him know that in Dallas but we’ll see what happens.
I flew back to Denver to meet my son Chad, who flew in from Florida that morning. He is going to be on the road with us for two months. We took Friday off and went white water rafting. Rafting has become a Summer Sessions tradition. The river was high and it made for an exciting adventure. After we were done we stepped next door to a bar & grill and ate dinner with our Colorado friends. Once we were done eating all of us played volleyball. In the middle of a game the sun was setting and the whole restaurant stopped what they were doing to see the most spectacular sunset I have seen in the Rockies. This brings us on route for Lenexa, Kansas. Here we have two days of riding scheduled.
Talk to you soon,
Briscoe
