Hello all,
Month #1 has come to an end and we have done more clinics than ever before at this time. I left you on Stop # 2 last time in Knoxville. We left there on the 12th on route to Chattanooga to coach some of my regular students. One of which is Phil Aslinger. Phil qualified for the Junior Pro Tour this year in Acworth, GA. He has been winning heats and pushing
his way to the podium. Another rider there Aaron Hale has been riding with me for a couple years now. His riding has gotten so strong I advised him to give the Pro Tour a try. We put together a tournament run while I was there and unfortunately he had a bad crash while training and tore a muscle on his ribs. Although he had to pass on this year’s tour he’ll be back with a vengeance next year.
On the 15th we drove out to a new stop for Briscoe’s Summer Sessions in Nashville. Scott Jones laid out the red carpet for our arrival. We had a few chilly mornings and were extremely thankful for the Heater that was installed last minute in my Supra. We stayed at the local marina and had our boat in the water the entire time. This made it so much easier to start in the morning.
We set up Xtreme Marine-Nashville as a new dealer for Wet Sounds and Monster Towers as well. It’s an easy sell when the customers start inquiring about everything in my 24 Worlds Edition. We have also moved a ton of No Fear product and will have to put another order in soon.
On the 19th we packed up and headed down to Alabama Watersports in Athens GA. Coogan didn’t have as many customers as usual but we made the best out of what we had. We drove an hour south to Smith Lake on the night of the 21st to do clinics the morning of
the 22nd for one of Coogans new boat owners. He hired us for the day to take his family out in his new 24 Gravity Edition. At about 2 p.m. we pulled out for our long trek to Shreveport, LA. Since Gus Campbell cancelled this year Eric from Midway Marine hooked us up with some of his customers just over the line in Karnack, TX. We ran 2 days of clinics on the 23rd and 24th. After clinics on the 24th they had a private party scheduled with “Guitar Slinger” Danny Johnson. Danny played for Steppenwolf for 16 years, and was scheduled entertainment for the night. They had asked if I would do an exhibition to kick of the festivities.
Now realize, this was Memorial Day weekend on a river, on a hot summery day in TX. It was packed!
But luckily all that Show Skiing came back into play and I had the best run of the season. We had the tunes crankin' and put on a show for 500 plus people lining the shore. Once the festivities got under way someone tipped off Danny that I played the Guitar. He asked me up on stage and we rocked out a little. It was a blast. Danny and his Wife came back to the bus after the party and we played Guitar for another 2 hours. It was sweet to hang with a true Rock Star.
On Monday we got up at the crack of 10:00 and headed to Kevin Johnson’s shop, Kevin is the one that organized the clinic. He took us to his shop to repair the Harley Holder on the trailer. It snapped coming across I-20 in Shreveport on our way there.
Luckily the bike was OK and we caught the problem in time. Kevin helped me build a new one out of steel and we are good to go. Some of the other action we’ve had so far was when we were pulling out of Nashville and the bedroom slide out decided to slide out while we were going down the road. Luckily I carry a large toolbox. So far all three slide outs have failed luckily I’ve been able to fix them all myself, so it hasn’t hurt the wallet too bad.
Anyway after fixing the bike trailer we headed to Midway Marine for our week on Lake Bistaneau which was booked for 4 days through Eric & Ben. This lake is still one of my favorite stops. Cypress Trees everywhere and tons of places to hid from the wind. Eric and Ben entertained us as hard as they could. We had a great time and have become great friends over the years. I believe we will get 2 boat sales out of the clinic and we sold some Fly High ballast bags, some Wet Sounds stuff and tons of No Fear
Board shorts.
We finished clinics on the 31st and decided to head over to Dallas to catch up with all of my students at the 2nd Pro Tour stop. We snuck the rig in and where parked in prime location. (Lets see you pull that one off at a Mastercraft event Littman.) I’m so good to you …Dad?!
Everyone had to pass the rig to enter and exit the event; it caught a lot of eyes.
Anyway it was good for everyone and the rig looks so good even all the Mastercraft guy’s commented on it.
I’m now sitting in Dallas at a friend’s house catching up on all my clerical duties. We head to Oklahoma City next.
Talk to you soon,
Briscoe
